Summary

The purpose of this project is to produce five issues of the MLA “Meat Safety News Digest”. This publication will inform stakeholders of recent news relevant to the safety of the red meat . The newsletter content requires collation from world sources, interpretation of relevant articles and technical editing and rewriting to produce a document that will stand up to scientific rigor from the industry.

Objectives

Collect and collate relevant food safety information from both international and domestic sources, to produce and edit five quarterly Meat Safety News Digest newsletters for distribution to industry stakeholders

Key findings

Five issues were produced and the findings were considered by MLA program managers and stakeholders to provide direction to the food safety research program.

Benefits to industry

This compilation of news helps the industry to be ready to respond to emerging issues.

MLA action

MLA discussed the contents of the newsletter with stakeholders when deciding the direction of the research program.

Future research

The need for this newsletter has been replaced by more targetted sources of information.
