Annual Review of Regulatory Burdens on Business
Desk top research identified various government regulations which impact the Australian red meat industry. The ‘total weight’ of regulation, with potential inefficiencies and demotivating effects, is an issue both governments and industry should recognise.
An overview was provided and four key government rule systems were identified as impacting industry productivity.
The output involved a Red Meat Industry submission to the Productivity Commission in June 2007.

Second Review of Regulatory Burdens on Business
A second submission involved commissioning studies of rules impacting on the industry, from production to transport, processing, retail and export. This involved interviews with red meat industry participants and the investigation of multiple layers of regulatory instruments and actions.
The output resulted in a Red Meat Industry submission to the Productivity Commission in March 2008.
