Summary

This project provided funds for a National Goat RD&E Coordinator to implement the objectives of Goat Industry Strategic Plan (GISP). The Goat Industry Strategic Plan (GISP) included the following objectives: 
1. Increase the supply of goats for slaughter, improve on-farm productivity and reduce costs of production. 
2. Contribute significantly to natural resource management outcomes from agriculture. 
3. Exploit all potential markets for goat meat and co-products and deliver a safe and wholesome product which meets customer specifications.
4. Enable learning and adoption of innovation and technology throughout the supply chain. 
 The specific objectives of this project included: 
 1. Raise the awareness and profile of the goat industry maintaining an overview of all MLA goat industry related initiatives, and be responsible for implementation of the goat on-farm R&D program comprising: oversee the Going into Goats program  promote the goat industry to new and existing producers the development and initial delivery of a communication and extension program 
2. Develop content and deploy two editions of the online eNewsletter Goats on the Move via the CampaignMaster online messaging system 
3. Develop and deploy at least one eAlert to subscribers of Goats on the Move via the CampaignMaster messaging system 
4. Implement the GICA/MLA Operating Guidelines and in doing so, formalise on-going GICA/MLA liaison, including the management of GICA R&D (GICARD) subcommittee. 
 5. Assist GICARD to report to GICA on a twice yearly basis.
