Summary

The EverGraze project has run for six years (excluding the planning stage) from 2005 to 2011.  However, the native pastures work  only ran for the last three years of the project.  Over 13,500 people have participated in the project. The project was conducted over 12 CMA regions adjacent to the Proof Sites plus activities in SA, Tas and Gippsland across the high rainfall zone of temperate Australia.  EverGraze was based on the principle that to achieve the extent of perennials needed to achieve natural resource outcomes farming systems based on perennials needed to be substantially more profitable than current systems.  Hence the project had the charter to demonstrate that it was possible to improve farm profit and environmental outcomes through a targeted approach, that being the right plant, in the right place for the right purpose.
