Summary

This area focuses on the application of covered anaerobic lagoons in the red meat industry. Anaerobic lagoons remain the most widely used approach to wastewater treatment in the red meat industry, however in recent years installation of covered anaerobic lagoons has increased many-fold. Some plants start from green-field digging new lagoons, whereas other plants cover current lagoons. Research themes cover many different aspects including lagoon design, cover material and installation as well as biogas composition and cleaning.
