Summary
The Leucaena Network (TLN) was established in 2000 by concerned growers to encourage responsible use of leucaena, thereby reducing its risk as an environmental weed and ensuring it remains as an option for beef producers wishing to increase pasture and animal productivity. TLN acts on behalf of all leucaena growers and aims to promote the responsible establishment and management of leucaena. TLN developed a voluntary Code of Practice, outlining the critical guidelines for establishing and managing leucaena responsibly. This project supported the four main activities of TLN during 2009-2012, including:
update the leucaena Code of Practice so it addresses all current issues concerning responsible use of leucaena-based pasture;
produce information products on the use and management of leucaena;
develop training materials and sponsor training opportunities;
assist in increasing the area of leucaena-based pasture by 30%.
