Summary
This project will deliver benefits to the Australian beef industry via enhanced genetic progress, in terms of more traits evaluated in BREEDPLAN, increased capacity to utilise information from DNA-based technologies, and increased focus on assisting breeders and breed societies understand how to get the best out of the full range of genetic technologies that are available.
New knowledge and tools will be delivered in the areas of maternal productivity and efficiency, and the capacity of BREEDPLAN software to deal with increasing volumes of data will be enhanced.
The project will underpin significant increase in the industry rate of genetic progress.
