Summary
The Queensland Rural, Regional and Remote Women‟s Network
(QRRRWN) held their annual conference to be held in Charter‟s Towers 16-18 September 2014.
Held in a different regional centre each year, the QRRRWN annual conference brings isolated women from all over Queensland together to network, celebrate and hear from inspirational women from across Australia.
With the overarching theme of 'Women of the World', in reference to Charters Towers' long history of multiculturalism, the committee organised workshop presenters and speakers to engage conference participants in a range of activities with the themes of positivity, expression and inspiration. These themes were designed to encompass changing and challenging business environments and personal situations, rural and community succession planning, technology training, physical and personal development, cultural connections and expression, skills of older women, as well as disability in rural communities.
The conference themes aimed to highlight the diversity of rural communities and the value of women's vast range of experience in both life and business.
MLA was the platinum sponsor of this event and the money supported Catherine Marriott to attend the event to perform her role as MC, where she promoted Target 100 (community engagement). MLA will support the event with $1,500 cash and $1,000 in-kind sponsorship
