Summary

Stage 1 of this project provided communication support to the SAFEMEAT Initiatives Review Steering Group in the preparation and delivery of their final report to SAFEMEAT and will assist in the preparation of a communication plan to support the SAFEMEAT phase-out of pre-2013 NVDs. The project will develop an integrated communication strategy for industry’s integrity systems (NLIS, LPA and NVDs) to support the roll-out of a number of program enhancements during 2015/16.

Stage 2 of this project implemented the integrated integrity system communication strategy, which was developed in Stage 1.  The communication strategy, incorporating NLIS, LPA and NVDs aimed to:

  1. Create awareness amongst livestock producers of the value and importance of industry integrity systems to the reputation of Australian red meat
  2. Creat an understanding of and support for the on-going farm practices that are required to maintain this reputation
  3. Motivate livestock producers to modify on-farm practices so as to meet and exceed customer and consumer expectatios of red meat production.
