Summary
During the interim period of securing a sustainable funding model for Peak Councils, MLA has been requested by the Minister for Agriculture to support Peak Council’s in delivering key industry services, identified in the Red Meat MOU, through the delivery of Capacity Building Projects. Following feedback from MLA and the Department of Agriculture, Cattle Council has revised their previous proposal and now submits a model that is based on identifying and upskilling a broad range of producers to help create and train future leaders for industry. ‘Building Capacity in the Grassfed Beef Industry’ aims to provide long term benefit to all grassfed beef levy payers by: 1. Developing the capacity of the grassfed beef industry in order to provide skilled leadership into the future; and 2. Acquiring expert knowledge from industry, including thought-leaders, to inform MLA programs and activities.
