Summary

The LGAP is a world first in presenting globally applicable animal welfare standards under a formal conformity assessment program. The benefits of implementing such a program are clear in terms of offering long term trade sustainability and consequences for facilities not complying with the Program. This has been one of the greatest deficiencies of ESCAS – lack of consequence for doing the wrong thing. Communicating the implementation plan, mechanics, operations and benefits of the program is vital in informing the industry with the most accurate information they need to then roll out the implementation of LGAP.

The purpose of this project has been to undertake implementation, consultation, communications and extension activities in relation to the Livestock Global Assurance Program.
