Summary

The Community Engagement team is proposing to have a "Taste of Beef and Lamb" stand at the upcoming Taste food festivals in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth. The Taste festivals are run annually, targeting both high end and aspiring foodies who are engaged with the provenance and sustainability of their food, as well as some members of the general community. The Community Engagement team has had a presence at Taste festivals since 2012, and they have proven to be very effective vehicles for producers to speak directly to the community about how beef and lamb is produced, with a focus on sustainability and nutrition. This activity falls under Pillar 1: Consumer and Community Support in the AIP, and specifically under the Community Events Program: A strategic sponsorship program of capital city and major community events used by MLA to educate consumers regarding red meat and livestock practices, with particular emphasis on animal welfare.
