Summary

The Promatic is a unique water supplementing dispenser not currently available in the market. While previous systems of proportional dosing require pre-mixing and diluting of nutrients and supplements (for example dry urea) prior to dosing, the Promatic's unique and innovative trait is that it is able to directly inject liquid concentrates and additives straight into water lines. This is because current units in the market are built with a diaphragm pump for dosing whereas the Promatic is the first in the market to incorporate a peristaltic pump in its design. While the diaphragm pump is able to pump into high-pressure water systems, it is unable to dose low volumes and viscous liquids.

This project was set up to prove the technical feasibility, safety and reliability of the unique proportional dosing water nutrient supplementing unit in grazing systems throughout Australia. Phase 1 of the project rolled out 8 units and will confirm the finalised design of the Promatic unit, and monitor, assess, rectify and report on the performance of those units for a 12 month period after installation.

Due to drought conditions and destocking of many of the properties where these units were installed, the project did not deliver any meaningful data from Phase 1, and was discontinued. Phase 2, the further rollout of an additional 92 units, did not proceed.
