Summary

The project 'Stimulating private sector extension in Australian agriculture to increase returns from R&D' set out to identify practical proposals to stimulate private sector extension services, and to fill current gaps.

The project consisted of cross-sectoral R&D in four areas. Targeted activities aimed to increase the capacity of private extension services to deliver relevant, tailored, practical information. The private sector is a well-used information source for farmers, however, opportunities remain to improve delivery of extension services.

As Australian agricultural extension services are becoming increasingly privatised this project aimed to unlock previously untapped resources to extend existing and future research outcomes.
