Summary

The NBRUC is the only activity that connects the northern beef sector, R &D providers and MLA on a scale that promotes and acknowledges the engagement of all parties to the benefit of the beef industry.

The Conference was held from Monday 19 August to Thursday 22 August 2019.

The conference theme was Bush to Bright Lights which highlighted the connection between the regional and city locations of the industry. A variety of speakers from around Australia and overseas were invited to participate as plenary speakers, panelists, soapbox presenters, and poster presenters. Initial expectations were for 330 registrations.

This was exceeded with the final outcome being 366. Twenty-three organisations participated as sponsors or supporters in-kind. Over 100 abstracts were submitted for review, with 40 of those accepted as orals and the balance as posters.

The CMA supported expenses associated with NBRUC, namely industry engagement and allowed MLA to have a bigger presence at the conference through enhancing our support of the event.

Supporting funds were primarily used to support attendance to the conference (travel expenses) by producers from WA and the Northern Territory who are presenting at the conference and would not otherwise attend an interstate event due to financial constraints.
