Incident Response Plan Support for Exports
Being prepared, knowing when an issue reaches a critical threshold and learning how to respond appropriately are key to managing a crisis effectively. The livestock export industry has a Strategic Response Group (SRG) to provide strategic-level whole-of-industry leadership during livestock export incidents. The systems and processes used by the SRG form the basis for this project, which is aimed at supporting individual livestock export businesses. This project will deliver templates and resources to help exporters identify risks and implement incident response plans in their businesses, and practice responding effectively to major incidents.

Summary
Being prepared, knowing when an issue reaches a critical threshold and learning how to respond appropriately are key to managing a crisis effectively.
The livestock export industry has a Strategic Response Group (SRG) to provide strategic-level whole-of-industry leadership during livestock export incidents. The systems and processes used by the SRG form the basis for this project, which is aimed at supporting individual livestock export businesses.
This project will deliver templates and resources to help exporters identify risks and implement incident response plans in their businesses, and practice responding effectively to major incidents.
Objectives
The objectives of this project are to:
· Develop an exporter-focused incident response document that provides a comprehensive overview of incident management, including the role of the industry’s SRG
· Develop a series of templates that livestock exporters can use to prepare for incidents and implement response plans in their businesses
Communicate the outcomes of this project via a webinar.
Benefits to industry
Having effective incident response mechanisms in place ensures that, if an incident occurs, exporters are well placed to safeguard human and animal welfare. It also helps to protect market access and minimise any impact on confidence in the industry.
