Summary
The purpose of the Project is to review the content of the Sheep Genetics breeders guide. The Breeders Guide is used to help new and current breeders submit data to sheep genetics. It also includes information about how to set up breeding guides. The old breeders guide was created in 2004 and has not been updated since. There is new information that needs to be added and the old content is outdated. The diagrams are dated and the layout is not easy for the reader to follow. It also does not follow the MLA brand and writing style guidelines.
Objectives
Provide an external review of the breeders guide including;
1. read the guide and highlight sections that are unclear or need more work
2. provide feedback about all 4 sections;
a. Introduction to breeding
b. Breeding objectives
c. Data submission to Sheep Genetics
d. Genomics and resource flocks
3. Where appropriate rewrite or work with Sheep Genetics to rewrite sections of text which are technically need to be improved.
Key findings

Benefits to industry
The review of the breeders guide will make it more relevant and up to date for Australian sheep industries. The update will ensure the current content is up to date and in logical format whilst also including more information about genomics and reference populations.
MLA action
Delivery of the updated content for the Sheep Genetics breeders guide to all current members as well as making this available through the Sheep Genetics website.
Future research
This project is connected to two other projects to improve the Sheep Genetics breeders guide that provide support for editing and illustrating the guide.
