Summary

MLA delivered a series of three masterclasses to each of the major retailers – Metcash, Woolworths and Coles – between November and December 2025. The sessions covered:

Nutrition and sustainability insights (MLA Red Meat Guide), red meat nutrition education, food waste reduction strategies and an ideation session. HT analysts were consulted to summarise the masterclass sessions and to capture ideas that each retailer was interested in implementing in store, for new product and online communications. Overall, retailers want to provide practical and simple nutrition initiatives that can be incorporated into existing campaigns.

Objectives

1.     Develop a project roadmap aligning key stakeholders and issues to desired outcomes.
2.    Prepare stimulus for exploring opportunities for retail dietitians to use MLA’s Red Meat Guide.
3.    Conduct stakeholder interviews and identify context in which retail dietitians are most likely to use the Red Meat Guide. 
4.    Evaluate MLA-hosted Masterclass and recommend improvements to optimise engagement with and adoption of the Red Meat Guide by retail dietitians.
