Summary

Grazing Matcher™ aims to improve the productivity and profitability of red meat producers by enabling them to utilise their pasture more efficiently.

It aims to deliver a better understanding of pasture production and how to better match grazing pressure/speed, fertiliser regimen, animal requirements, growth patterns and market demands. This increased understanding will focus on fostering practice change and implementation along the program by building confidence under technical coaching and a supportive peer network.

 

Objectives

Delivery of MLA’s off-the-shelf Profitable Grazing Systems (PGS) Supported Learning Package (SLP) ‘Grazing Matcher’ to five groups across Western Australia and saw engagement of up to 40 red meat producers.

Key findings

Due to the nature of the PGS program, there were no key findings.

Benefits to industry

The recent Producer Adoption Impact Assessment demonstrated on average, producers that participate in PGS SLP can expect an additional net benefit of $18/ha annually.

MLA action

MLA will continue to fund the PGS program.

Future research

Due to the nature of the PGS program, there was no research conducted and no further investment required.
