Summary
This contract provided statistical expertise, advanced analytical tools and capability‑building initiatives for the MSA program. Work includes model development, independent research evaluation, Shiny app enhancements, data science workshops and ongoing operational analytics support.
Objectives
The project aimed to:
- provide ongoing statistical and analytical support for MSA producer awards, BEQI reporting, Business Development Toolbox (BDO) development, and ad hoc MSA queries
- develop and maintain analytical products, including Shiny apps integrated with myMSA, R-based MSA models, and server infrastructure
- support MSA governance through attendance and expert contributions to Beef and Sheepmeat Pathways Committee meetings
- deliver statistical training to industry through yearly open courses, enabling improved data handling, modelling and visualisation using R.
Key findings
- further development of the sheepmeat MSA model continued, supporting future enhancements to eating quality predictions
- independent evaluation of MSA research outcomes strengthened the scientific basis of the model and MSA program reporting
- digital tools and Shiny app enhancements
- delivery of analytics for industry workshops
- ad hoc analysis to MSA BDOs and industry projects.
