Summary

This project delivered the development and upgrade of the Meat Standards Australia IT system (myMSA) to enable single sign on access via the myMLA platform.

Objectives

The consultant achieved the following objectives:
1. Analysis of the myMSA user authentication model and of implicated myMSA applications.
2. Development/enhancement of the myMSA user authentication method and to the myMSA-myMLA/SSO integration model.
3. Liaison with MLA IT and/or with other MLA system vendors for SSO and myMLA.
4. Updates to impacted functions and modules across the MSA applications for MSA personID to ensure access to permitted applications based on MSA licence or registration.
5. System testing and user acceptance following iterations and of the finished product.
6. Release to production of iterations and of the finished product.
7. Further enhancement to the build, as required.

Key findings

Development and implementation of a new myMSA user authentication model to allow all users to access myMSA via the myMLA platform utilising the myMLA single sign on (SSO) as authentication.
Direct access to myMSA has been turned off with users now logging in to myMSA using their myMLA account.

Benefits to industry

This project enabled access of the myMSA system via myMLA SSO and ensured the continued integrity of MSA’s internal and external software systems.

Future research

No further investment is required in relation to the single sign on process at this time. However, system maintenance for myMSA systems is ongoing and required.
