Mackillop Farm Management Group (MFMG) Legumes in Mixed Farming Rotations Project - Discussion Group - Initial Meeting


Mackillop Farm Management Group (MFMG) is seeking farmers who grow annual or perennial clovers, faba beans, or other legumes of interest to join a discussion group, and/or provide a Producer Demonstration Site.
The group will form part of an MFMG MLA GRDC Legumes in Mixed Farming Rotations Project which aims to demonstrate the economic value of including annual or perennial crops in a paddock rotation and any carry over value in the following cereal crops.

Come along to the initial meeting at Frances and learn more about the Project.
Five Producer Demonstration Sites will be established, with regular field days.
What you will learn:
- The role of legumes in a crop rotation
- How legume selection can improve your entire farming system
- What is the ‘best bang for your buck’ when selecting legumes in a crop rotation?
- How do you measure its grazing value?
- What role do legumes play in weed control, soil health, feed options and increasing yield of subsequent crops?
