Summary

Summary this project reviewed the nature and management of different types and grades of bedding material in relation to a range of variables including class of livestock, deck ventilation, ease of handling and shipboard ability to dispose of bedding, however further work in this area required.   Further work is currently underway in which a targeted literature review is being undertaken addressing all aspects that influence the environment within livestock vessels and facilities. The major focus will be on air quality and bedding management but the search will be wide enough to capture any recent innovation that have potential benefits for the Livestock Export Industry.
