Summary

This CMA covered costs miscellaneous expenses for a Consultant to assist with the initial consultation and scoping of the project. The objective of the project was to develop a voluntary environmental stewardship module that would:
- provide a record of environmental management
- meet an identified need for accreditation that is credible but would suit majority of producers
- link with other environment/sustainability systems.
The project outcome was a national scheme that allows meat and wool producers to demonstrate their environmental stewardship. The project outputs were:
1. A framework for voluntary base-level environmental accreditation that could be endorsed by Cattle Council of Australia and Sheepmeat Council of Australia who have given in principle approval to develop a module that is:
- designed as a base-level system suitable for the majority of producers
- formalises what many are already doing
- compatible with LPA QA More Beef from Pastures, Making More from Sheep and GLM Best Practice guides
- Credible in eyes of markets and regulators.
