Summary
This CMA funded a planning meeting for the Reducing Emissions from Livestock Research Program 2 (2012 onwards). The objective of the RELRP (2009-2012) was to deliver knowledge and technologies to enable producers to breed and/or manage sheep and cattle to significantly reduce methane emissions while maintaining livestock productivity for a viable industry. The RELRP was in the final year of research and a planning meeting enabled the existing research groups in the program to scope out a framework for a future bid along with key research areas, questions and possibly scope the role of the private sector. Attendance included RELRP steering committee members as representatives of investors/research providers along with key science leaders.
