Summary

Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), the Department of Environment (DE) and Australian Agricultural Company (AACo), undertook a project to develop two Carbon Farming Methodologies to offer opportunities for alternative income for  cattle producers under the Emissions Reduction Fund. The methods apply to cattle producers in northern Australia with operations within the sub tropical climate zones. These methodologies were submitted to the Department. The first methodology on nitrate supplementation has been approved by the Government under the new Emissions Reduction Fund. The second method is near completion and is called the Whole Herd Management method. The methods have undergone a rigorous pathway of science review and public consultation.
