Summary

This is a consulting role to MLA. The purpose of the position is to contribute to the overall success of the Australian Government's Filling the Research Gap Round 1(FtRG-1) - National Livestock Methane Program by reporting to the MLA Manager Climate Change R&D otherwise known as the NLMP Manager. The Consultant will coordinate the science investment in research projects as set out in the Agreement between MLA and the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry. Outcomes will include a collaborative culture in the program including support and rigorous monitoring of scientific effort to promote high quality targeted research to meet the objectives of the program.
The Consultant's key activities to achieve the Objectives are as follows:
1. The Consultant reports to the MLA Manager Climate Change R&D.
2. Active collaboration with the NLMP Management team which includes the MLA Manager Climate Change,the NLMP Project Office, NLMP communications consultant, other advisers and consultants appointed by MLA to ensure effective research and contractual management of the program. Work proactively with the Administartion officer for the National Livestock Methane program to esnure delivery of program outputs as agreed with the Commonwealth through the Funding Deed.
3. Reporting, communication, and resolution of issues relating to project management, delivery and IP and commercialisation issues.
4. Foster a culture of collaboration and information sharing between program research teams, MLA, the Investor Advisory Group and DAFF.
5. Manage the delivery of research outputs against contracted milestones, including reviewing milestone reports with other specialist reviewers, submitting collated reports and reviews to the Manager Climate Change R&D, draft technical reports and assist with media outputs.
6. Active liaison with other science coordination roles/science theme leaders nominated within the NLMP. Coordination of all science management activities in the program and leading the writing and development of all major reports to DAFF and MLA.
7. Active collaboration with the Science Review Panel and its chair in the conduct of proposal and project reviews.
8. Facilitate communication between research organisations participating in the program and communicate with external investors and stakeholders including producers, government and industry according to agreed terms of reference through the Communications protocols.
9. Active coordination, collation and monitoring and evaluation of information in NLMP.
10. Undertake site visits to discuss research progress as required.
11. Promote linakges between the NLMP and other science programs outside of Filling the Research gap Initiative, including international research collaborations.
12. Oversee data base integrity, management, security and access within the program.
13. Facilitation at project meetings, technical workshops and other forums within the NLMP.
