Summary

(Advantage) Shopper Tracker is a research provider that focusses on the shopper and the point of purchase at retail. Data is collected from recent shoppers in many different categories, across major retail groups, and their responses, when analyzed, help subscribers to Shopper Tracker's data:

  • understand the role that grocery category plays for the retailer in attracting traffic and incremental spend
  • understand what's important to shoppers in the reach category, and how each retailer is performing on these aspects
  • profile shoppers of each category
  • understand key considerations and influences along the path to purchase

Access includes an initial annual presentation, a more detailed 'deep dive' presentation, and access to Shopper Tracker's online research tools where data can be extracted.

The key outputs of this project were therefore insights into the shopper's journey when buying meat (beef and lamb, as well as chicken, fish and fresh pork) across major retail groups (Coles, Woolworths, Aldi, IGA, and Butchers).

These insights were used as inputs into domestic marketing strategy, most often the approach taken and messaging used by MLA in discussions with major retail partners and red meat processors responsible for the red meat products sold at retail in Australia.
