Summary

This Company Managed Activity (CMA) was to support the Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment RRnd4P project Dung beetle ecosystem engineers – enduring benefits for livestock producers via science and a new community partnership model, through planning workshops and formation and meetings of the project steering committee.

Dung Beetle Ecosystem Engineers project is expanding the range of dung beetles in Australia and analysing their performance for livestock producers.

MLA action

MLA successfully established the Rural R&D for Profit Project ''Dung Beetle Ecosystem Engineers''.

Future research

This CMA was used to establish the Rural R&D for Profit Project ''Dung Beetle Ecosystem Engineers''. Future research to be undertaken within this project includes monitoring existing beetle activity, selecting new beetles to be imported, and developing an economic model to value the services beetles provide in southern systems.
