Summary

The wholesaler pricing survey was conducted to collect data on prices for beef and lamb wholesalers and gauge levels of satisfaction and engagement with the MSA program. The survey also serves as a way to open up a dialogue with wholesalers for them to provide feedback to the MSA team.

Objectives

The overall objective of this research was to track the wholesale prices for fresh beef and lamb cuts to compare prices between MSA versus non-MSA cuts and primals.
More specific objectives include:
- To compare prices of MSA graded beef and lamb cuts against non-MSA graded product (MSA=Meat Standards Australia - a grading system designed to ensure consistent quality of red meat).
- To collect answers to MSA program satisfaction questions.
- To provide answers to ad hoc questions - changed as needed.

Benefits to industry

The outcomes of this survey allowed MSA to get closer to wholesalers to better understand and meet their needs as well as understand the impact of MSA on this section of the supply chain.
