Summary

MLA has engaged the services of Gartner Australia in a one year subscription-based research and related services including toolkits and templates to support the High Value Foods Frontier Strategy program to interrogate new food product trends and food technologies analysis. This project will pilot this approach as an alternate to past methods where several smaller consultancy contracts were engaged to undertake such reviews in an ad-hoc process.

Objectives

This project will pilot this approach as an alternative to past methods where several smaller consultancy contracts were engaged to undertake such reviews in an ad-hoc process. The service allows access to Gartner network with a dedicated MLA account manager to service three MLA representatives with consideration for any subsequent subscription across wider RDA Science & Innovation group and Central Market Insights teams to be considered in FY22 against other providers such as GlobalData and Euromonitor Passport for example.

Benefits to industry

A key driver for MLA’s High Value Foods Frontier programs is to evaluate the changing consumer lifestyle and life-stages along with emerging Food technology platforms. Scanning these trends and framing assumptions for 'where to play/how to win' are key initiatives to inform portfolio of investments Y21-25. A subscription model allows MLA to internally ideate faster than our current model of multiple small contracts on multiple themes. This aligns with the intention to complete design sprints to frame and test assumptions for the benefit of industry investments.

MLA action

MLA continues to explore various insight providers and subscription services on a needs basis.
