Summary

This Company Managed Activity (CMA) is to cover FY 2023-24 general expenses for the consultation strategy implementation and project management costs. This includes meeting costs associated with hosting the Red Meat Panel, Expert Panel and other meetings associated with regional consultation.

This project facilitates the process of participation from producers though the identification of on-farm issues that impact their production systems. The consultation program ensures that there is a consistent connection between producer advisory committees and MLA project and program managers, which increases the perceived value derived through investment of their levy into Research, Development and Adoption (RD&A) activities. The budget has not been increased from the previous year. The investment is integral for current plans of work within the portfolio to ensure the goals remain on track to deliver impactful results to industry.

The project provides insights and increases connection for program and project managers through feedback in person and regular online meetings. This reduces the time between contact at the local level with producers and provides ‘real time’ information to the research managers on the issues that are present as well as emerging in different regions.
Producers have an additional internal contact that plays an important role as a partner in their organisations to achieve their local RD&A objectives to enhance their industries.
