Summary
The SLP 'Building Better Breeders' has been developed to equip producers with the tools and skills to lift beef herd fertility and reproduction rates. Building Better Breeders is an MLA-owned off-the-shelf package. This investment resulted in the engagement of 24 red meat producers in Victoria in the East Gippsland region.
Objectives
- Delivered the Supported Learning Package – Building Better Breeders.
- Delivered to two groups of red meat producers in the East Gippsland regions of Victoria, over a 13-month period. Groups will be Wellington and Mitchell River.
- The SLP will focus on the value chain curriculum.
- Delivery commenced in June 2023.
Key findings
Due to the nature of producer adoption programs, there are no key findings.
Benefits to industry
Profitable Grazing Systems impact participating producers by on average, delivering a return of $17.47/ha due to the adoption of management practices.
MLA action
MLA will continue to invest in the PGS program.
Future research
Due to the nature of the PDS program there was no research conducted and no future research required.
