Summary

The project deliverables have been extended until December 2025 to enable more interviews with key stakeholders to enable a robust understanding of the attidues and barriers to meat recovery.

Objectives

1. To describe the needs and constraints of Foodbank, including suppliers, products and processes for receiving, handling and distributing meat to clients.
2. To describe barriers to, and enablers of, participation in meat recovery by supply chain actors and cold logistics, including costs, risks and incentives.
3. To identify and discuss the feasibility of opportunities for improving meat recovery and re-distribution in Australia, including product innovations, tax incentives, steamlined cold storage, transportation solutions and household practices (including spill-over opportunities for consumer programs).
