Summary

The Mark IV review and maintenance delivered in 39 facilities, with almost 50% are in good condition. The major finding is broken or no backup generator in the facilities. The reports of phase 2 have been sent to the exporters, and advice to have their in-market team prepare their facilities before the busy period in March-June 2025 (Eid Fitr and Eid Adha)

Objectives

Deliver the review and maintenance training in Mark IV active facilities (around 39 boxes).

Key findings

The findings from all 39 facilities in the ESCAS supply chain (phase 1-3) indicated that around 46,15% of boxes are in good condition; 30,77% have minor issues, and another 23,08% need urgent repair/major issues (including the need for a backup generator or pressure gauge).

Benefits to industry

The reports are to support exporters in their Eid Management plan and risk mitigation for poor animal welfare practices in their supply chain.
