Summary

The project was established to modernise key components of the myMSA platform. The project delivered three major outcomes:

1.    Development of an Objective Measurement (OM) sub-system to capture, validate and report objective measurement data.
2.    Enhancement of the beef and sheepmeat pH decline monitoring system, including automated compliance notifications and reporting.
3.    Integration of the latest LPA API to improve producer search and member management functions across myMSA applications.

Together, these enhancements improve data integrity, compliance management, operational efficiency and readiness for future objective grading technologies within the Australian red meat industry.

Objectives

The project aimed to:

•    Develop a new Objective Measurement sub-system within myMSA, provide technical specifications and testing environments for OM implementation, and enable ingestion, validation, storage and reporting of OM data.
•    Create dedicated beef and sheepmeat pH decline monitoring sub-systems and automate weekly and monthly compliance notifications to processing plants.
•    Upgrade producer search functionality by integrating the latest LPA API across beef, sheepmeat, registration and member management systems.

Key findings

The implementation of an OM sub-system provides the foundation necessary for future deployment and monitoring of objective measurement technologies in commercial processing facilities.

Industry stakeholders require access to reliable producer information sourced directly from the LPA system, which is the industry's source of truth for producer records.

Manual monitoring of pH decline reporting created compliance risks and was identified during audit processes as an area requiring improvement. Automated notifications significantly reduce the likelihood of missed pH decline submissions and strengthen compliance oversight.

Integration between myMSA, AUS-MEAT and LPA systems enhances data consistency, reporting accuracy and operational efficiency across the supply chain.

The enhancements delivered through this project provide significant benefits to the Australian red meat industry by improving the integrity, efficiency and future readiness of the MSA grading system.
