Summary

Delivery of the PayDirt North supported learning package engaged cattle producers in Queensland. The delivery of the package upskilled Queensland producers to integrate new management practices into their grazing systems, through skills and confidence-building that will enable informed decision making around fertiliser application. This package also helped increase familiarity of the PGS brand with Northern beef producers.

Objectives

Delivery of the SLP PayDirt North to a group of rede meat producers in the Hinchinbrook region, QLD. The SLP is delivered over 4 sessions to coach red meat producers in how to improve the productivity of their pastures through improved practices in and fertiliser management. The package will support producers in using soil tests to commence their fertiliser programs strategically, economically and within the limitations of climatic conditions.

Due to the nature of the PGS program, there are no key findings.

Benefits to industry

Profitable Grazing Systems impact that participating producers, on average receive a return of $17.47/ha due to the adoption of management practices.

MLA action

Due to the nature of the PGS program, there was no research conducted and no further required.

Future research

MLA will continue to invest in the PGS program.
