Summary

MLA continued to support and strengthen technical market access for Australian red meat across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region through ongoing engagement with government authorities, regulators, industry stakeholders, and international partners. Activities focused on identifying and addressing technical trade barriers, monitoring regulatory developments, and safeguarding commercially important export markets.

During the year, MLA facilitated engagement opportunities with key regulatory and industry stakeholders across priority markets including the Gulf region, North Africa and Türkiye. These activities provided valuable intelligence on market requirements, emerging regulatory issues and opportunities to improve trade conditions for Australian exporters. MLA also represented industry interests through technical forums, government engagement activities and market access events designed to strengthen relationships with decision-makers and support continued access for Australian red meat products.

The program contributed to maintaining Australia's reputation as a trusted supplier of safe, high-quality red meat while supporting exporters to navigate changing technical and regulatory requirements. Through proactive stakeholder engagement and ongoing monitoring of market developments, MLA helped reduce market access risks and position the Australian red meat industry to respond effectively to evolving trade environments across the region.

Objectives

To safeguard and enhance market access for Australian red meat in MENA by addressing technical and regulatory barriers, engaging with key government and industry stakeholders, and supporting exporter compliance with import requirements to facilitate sustainable trade growth.
