Summary
Phase one of the Dry Moulded Fibre Board Meat Tray project focused on validating laboratory-developed fibre tray technology under commercial conditions through a processor trial. The objective was to assess real-world performance, confirm technical feasibility for meat packaging applications, and identify critical gaps to be addressed in a potential Phase two.

- First Dry Moulded Fibre Board trays purpose-built for meat and protein applications.
- Plastic-free tray structure, eliminating the need for consumer separation prior to recycling and maintaining compatibility with Modified Atmosphere Packaging (MAP).
- >97% fibre content, significantly exceeding the current industry benchmark of ~91%.
- Trays designed for kerbside recycling in Australia, with intent to achieve Australian Recycling Label (ARL) approval.
- An integrated moisture-lock design, removing the need for absorbent soaker pads.
- Advanced top film solution, incorporating a non-EVOH MAP barrier that seals effectively while enabling clean peel from the fibre tray.
