Summary

The Australian Rural Leadership Program (ARLP) is a high impact, immersive, and experiential learning program focused on the development of leadership for individuals and collectives who are contributing to the future prosperity of rural and regional Australia. The project supported the development of industry leadership and MLA ambassadorship through supporting an annual additional scholarship in ARLP Course 32.

Objectives

ARLP delivers practical leadership benefits to organisations and individuals within the red meat industry and enhances the opportunity for collective impact and transformation in this sector.

Key findings

The investment in this project has provided the red meat industry the opportunity for its leaders to increase their capability and capacity to lead. It provides opportunity for the participants to engage in conversation regarding the Australian agribusiness sector more broadly, looking beyond the immediate sector to understand the shared challenges and opportunities for future action. The project has increased the pool of industry representatives who have the capability to engage in leading the industry into the future. This funding allowed the co-funding of an additional scholarship for a red meat industry leader to complete Course 32 of the ARLP.

Benefits to industry

The project supported the development of industry leadership and MLA ambassadorship through supporting a scholarship in ARLP Course 29, which has contributed to growing a cohort of leaders within the meat and livestock industries, that contribute advancing the interests of the sector and rural and regional communities in a positive and meaningful way.

MLA action

MLA will continue to invest in developing enhanced leadership capability to develop impactful industry leaders and ambassadors for MLA.

Future research

The ARLP remains an ongoing supported scholarship within the Innovation Capability program.
