Summary

Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) commissioned a brief independent review of the structures that provide scientific and technical advice to the Meat Standards Australia (MSA) program, including the functions of the Pathways committee. The review was to also examine the interactions between the MSA Pathways Committee and other structures that could provide advice to MLA on R&D initiatives aimed at improving compliance.
Following consultation with a range of key stakeholders (Pathways or related bodies), a series of findings was listed and recommendations proposed. Underpinning the recommendations is a vision (or target) for where MSA governance structures could preferably be in one or two years' time.
