Summary

​The purpose of this project is to prepare a manual outlining the different solutions available for mitigating and minimising dags at feedlots. The manual is to be used by feedlots of all sizes and is to include case studies showing how different dag management practices have been successfully implemented. 

To deliver this project, data was collected via a comprehensive literature review, interviews with lot feeders who have implemented effective dag management practices at their feedlots and desktop research was conducted to gain clarity around cleanliness standards. This data, specifically the management techniques identified, was used to draft the Clean Cattle Manual.

This MLA report presents the literature review, the summarised interviews with lot feeders, and the manual. 

The Clean Cattle Manual been designed to assist operators identify which dag management options will best suit the specific needs of their operation.
