Summary

The purpose of this consultancy agreement was to provide continued statistical analysis support for the development of the MSA sheepmeat cuts-based model.

Objectives

​​The consultant supported the MSA eating quality program as follows:
​ 1. Statistical development of the MSA cuts-based eating quality prediction to include new cut x cooks based on current and future datasets.
​2. Provide statistical support to the MSA team in relation to the sheepmeat model, and support the capability building of another consultant in regards to future model development.
​3. Conduct statistical analyses to assist in the planning of research trials regarding the sheepmeat model and cut x cook implementation.
​4. Assist in the statistical analysis of sheepmeat research data including but not limited to saleyard pathway data.

Key findings

​​Further development of the MSA cuts-based eating quality prediction including new cut x cook outcomes using current and future research datasets.

Benefits to industry

The expertise provided by the consultant is extremely valuable to the industry to facilitate development of Australia’s MSA sheepmeat model statistical support and analysis.

Future research

As more research is done and more data becomes available, additional statistical analysis and model development will be required.
