BredWell FedWell comes back to the Northern Tablelands

01 March 2024

The new and improved BredWell FedWell workshop is creating quite a stir with producers around Australia and now beef producers on the Northern Tablelands have the opportunity to take part.

The Meat & Livestock Australia (MLA) workshop focuses on profit drivers to show how the combination of good genetics and nutrition can have a positive impact on your bottom line.

To do this, BredWell FedWell helps producers apply the outcomes of the most up to date genetics and nutrition research to their businesses by looking at each stage of the annual production cycle in detail.

The interactive, on-farm workshop will be held at ‘Bald Blair’, Guyra, hosted by Sam and Kirsty White of Bald Blair Angus and delivered by Nancy Crawshaw of Angus Australia on 22 March.

Sam and Kirsty are excited to invite producers to their property for the one-day workshop. “A highlight of the day is that participants have the opportunity to compare bulls in the yards with and without BREEDPLAN Estimated Breeding Values (EBVs) and consider what this might mean for their own business. Not only does this illustrate the power of genetics and EBVs but other activities also show the important role nutrition plays in unlocking this potential” Sam said.

Producers can then take what they learn and apply this directly to their own enterprises. During the workshop, attendees also examine their own feed supply and demand and critically consider their approaches to feeding to maximise their genetic investment.

Producers will come away with skills to:

  • help them develop a customised breeding plan aligned to their profit drivers;
  • identify sires and select animals that help meet their breeding objective; and
  • plan to feed their animals to achieve their breeding objective.

The redeveloped, highly visual and easy to follow workshop is achieving unprecedented reviews from attendees around Australia, rating it 9 out of 10 for satisfaction and value, and 98% of people indicate they’d recommend it to other producers.

Now is the time for Northern Tableland producers to share in the action.
