a.    Explain how to read and understand the new extreme event forecast products.
b.    Demonstrate why and how producers can use forecast products to make improved decisions in farm management
c.    Provide ongoing awareness and knowledge around their use in agricultural decision making.
2.    Provide access to the videos on the MLA website and make available for others
3.    Provide raw files and any copyright / licence agreements to enable unrestricted use

Key findings

The Rural R&D for Profit project ‘Forewarned is Forearmed’ (FWFA) is equipping farmers and agricultural value chains to proactively manage the impacts of extreme climate events. To do so, five new Bureau of Meteorology forecast products for extreme events in the weeks, months and seasons ahead have been created. This project has delivered five short videos, to demonstrate how southern red meat, dairy, grains and wine grape production systems can use these products in decision making.

Benefits to industry

The videos developed in this project provide a simple explanation to the outputs of the 'Forewarned is Forearmed' project and an ongoing resource to industry that will allow people to stay informed of the tools developed.
