Summary

MLA has a regional consultation structure that engages producers for input into MLA’s allocation of annual investments in research, development and adoption (RD&A), benefiting grassfed beef and sheepmeat producers. NABRC is one of three research advisory councils in MLA’s consultation framework, representing inputs from northern Australian producers. NABRC provides a forum for grassfed beef industry and RD&A agencies to review, debate and consolidate RD&A priorities that emerge from the consultation process.

Objectives

1. Ensure northern Australia beef producers actively participate in the development of terms of reference that support investment calls for research projects related to addressing priorities established by the producer consultation network.  
2. Ensure that beef producers participate in and are aware of MLA funded research, development and adoption.  
3. ​Maintain producer consultation network and function across northern Australia.​

MLA uses the consultation process undertaken through the research councils to inform investment decisions.

The Research Councils provide a critical link between Researchers, producers and MLA in identify and prioritising potential RD&A ideas for investment.

MLA action

MLA uses the priorities gathered to inform investment decisions on-farm for research, development and adoption.

Future research

NABRC funds management projects are a recurring requirement of the Consultation program.
