Calling all harvested rangeland goat producers: join the committee shaping goat industry R&D

11 June 2025

MLA is calling for applications from harvested rangeland goat producers to fill available committee positions on the Goat Industry Research, Development and Adoption Committee (GIRDAC).

This Committee advises on the direction of levy-funded research, development and adoption (RD&A) initiatives for the Australian goatmeat and livestock industry.

Representation of harvested rangeland goat producers is important to ensure RD&A reflects the opportunities and needs of these production systems.

About GIRDAC

GIRDAC operates independently to the Goat Industry Council of Australia (GICA) as an MLA-appointed and funded committee.

The committee has a national focus and is comprised of commercial goat producers, service providers and subject matter expert representatives, as required.

GIRDAC members provide advice and endorsement relating to goat levy R&D priorities, the development and review of terms of reference documents, appointment of service providers and review of current project progress.

The Committee convenes virtually three times a year, and once face-to-face to review RD&A funding proposals, progress of existing projects and results of concluding projects.

Expressions of interest

Interested rangeland goat producers from all states are encouraged to submit Expressions of Interest (EOIs) to MLA, addressing the following selection criteria:

  • details of experience within the goat industry, specifically harvested rangeland goats
  • details of any experience in research, development and adoption
  • an outline of skills and experience the candidate brings to GIRDAC
  • why the candidate would like to be part of GIRDAC.

Please keep EOIs to two pages or less.

Don’t bleat around the bush – get your applications in today! Applications close 30 June 2025.
