Back to Marketing Beef, Lamb, and Goat

Southern Asia

MLA’s strategy for Southeast Asia is to position Australia as the preferred choice of red meat for customers. Southeast Asia is one of the fastest growing regions in the world for red meat consumption, and Australian red meat exports to region have increased four-fold in the last decade. The region consists of developed nations such as Singapore and Malaysia and emerging economies such as Indonesia, The Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam. Beyond the ASEAN6, opportunities exist in more affluent urban areas of Cambodia, Brunei, Sri Lanka and India.

To support the industry and businesses to grow and capture the opportunities in the region, MLA has dedicated representatives across six countries: Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. MLA has built a strong network across local livestock and red meat industry participants and work closely with businesses, associations and governments on market development, marketing, education and research and market access.

Key initiatives in the region include the Aussie Meat Academy, Livestock Exports Program and trade marketing activities to grow the Australian beef, lamb and goat country-of-origin brand equity.

MLA has trade representative offices in Indonesia and Singapore.
