Big year for live goat exports

During the 2014-15 financial year, Australia exported almost 91,000 live goats, up 12% year-on-year. Primarily destined for Malaysia, the predominantly air freight trade was worth $9.5 million FOB in 2014-15 (Australian Bureau of Statistics).

As illustrated in Figure1, the live goat export trade to Malaysia and Singapore has steadily increased over the past 25 years.

 NSW and SA remained the largest suppliers of air freight goat exports, accounting for 43% and 49% of the national total, respectively.
