NSW weekly cattle summary

Numbers increase
Cattle consignments in NSW lifted by 17%, week-on-week, for a total of 23,093 head.
- Wagga increased by 16%, to pen 2,800 head, as Tamworth lost 26% for a total of 1,110 cattle.
- CTLX slipped 7% for 1,414 head, while Scone increased 20% and penned 1,073 cattle.
- Inverell lifted its total by 19% for 1,279 head, as Gunnedah gained 30% to total 2,195 cattle.
- Singleton slipped by 16% to total 705 head, with Armidale easing back 10% for 450 cattle.
- Forbes added 22% for 1,873 cattle, while Moss Vale increased by 8% to yard 764 head.
- Casino gained 18% to total 1,680 head, as Dubbo lifted by 22% to pen 7,100 cattle, with Finley continuing its fortnightly market for a total of 650 head.
Prices trend dearer
Medium weight vealer steers returning to the paddock averaged 2¢ dearer, with the bulk at 330¢, as the best reached 369¢/kg. The vealer heifers sold 6¢ dearer to sell from 266¢ to 326¢/kg.
Medium and heavy weight yearling steers to the lot feeder orders sold 5¢ dearer to range from 234¢ to 347¢/kg. The bulk of the unfinished yearling heifers trended 4¢ dearer, making from 260¢ to 333¢/kg. The prime conditioned younger cattle to the butchers sold firm to 5¢ dearer, with the best reaching 359¢/kg.
The heavy weight grown steers suitable for slaughter improved from 2¢ to 5¢, making from 260¢ to 348¢/kg.
Cows sold at similar prices, week-on-week, as the plainer 2 scores averaged 219¢, with the better covered 3 and 4 scores making from 200¢ to 281¢/kg. The heavy weight bulls lifted 7¢ and topped at 322¢/kg.
